Use these guides to give you the upper hand against some of the most common internet-related problems! Our goal is for you to have a seamless connection without breaks or slowness. If you’re seeing performance issues, let us know! We want to make sure it’s working great for you. But if you want to try some basic steps on your own first, these guides can help you get back up fast with many of the most common problems.
Completely Disconnected Internet
Has your Internet connection stopped working? Here are a few ways to figure out exactly what’s going wrong and try to fix it. Of course, if you run into anything you’re not comfortable with or just plain out need to talk to another human, please call us at 308.962.7298!
Step 1: Check Connected Devices
When pages stop loading or your video starts buffering, the first thing you want to do is try another device. If you have another computer, a phone or a tablet on the network, try to get online with one of those devices. If you can get to a web page on another device, you may need to check the first device’s settings or reboot it. Also make sure your WiFi signal is strong, as that can affect network performance.
Step 2: Reboot/Reconnect Modem
If multiple devices are experiencing network problems, take a look at your modem or router. They will usually have several lights turned on and blinking. Try unplugging each cable, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. You’ll want to do this with all the cables and on all devices leading to your DSL/Cable connection or wireless radio.
WARNING: Don’t hit the reset button on your modem! That will erase your network configuration, which will take your connection down on its own. Call us first if you feel you need to reset the modem.
Step 3: Call In
If you’re still experiencing problems, please call us! Dial 308-962-7298 if it’s during normal business hours, or 866-222-7873 if you’re calling after hours. Some things you can tell us to speed up the process would be:
- Your name
- How many devices can’t get online
- What you’ve done so far
- What lights are turned on at the modem, and if any are red.
We’ll walk you through any more troubleshooting steps needed, and if the problem requires a technician to come to your home, we’ll work with you to make that happen at a time that is convenient for you.
Slow or Intermittent Internet
One of the most frustrating things is a connection that almost works. Don’t let a frustrating network get the best of you! Call us up or try some of these tips to get things running smooth again.
Step 1: Identify the Problem
Look for any patterns. Is the problem happening with multiple devices? In a specific room, or some time of day? Does it change with all other devices turned off? Check the connection often and try to run a speed test.
Something else to keep in mind: your speed package. If your package can’t handle things like video streaming or gaming, you might want to look at our pricing page.
Step 2: Try Something Different
Here are some things to try:
- If you haven’t already rebooted your modem and checked the cable connections, give it a shot now.
- Find out which devices are on the network, and try a speedtest with only one connected at a time.
- If you have a computer with an Ethernet port, plug it directly in to the router with an Ethernet cable if you have one.
